Location: Auditorium
The integrated photonics industry focuses on incorporating photonic functions onto a single chip to enable faster and more efficient optical communication, imaging, spectroscopy, sensing, and computing systems. The success of this industry is not only dependent on technological advancements but also on a well-functioning, collaborative ecosystem. The role of such an ecosystem, which encompasses academic research, industry collaboration, governmental support, and infrastructure development, is crucial in enabling innovation, scaling production, and facilitating the accelerated commercial adoption of photonic integrated circuits (PICs) by several high-tech sectors.
In this talk, we will explore how ecosystems such as PhotonDelta can actively contribute to the growth of the photonic integration industry. We will share positive examples of stakeholder collaboration, knowledge exchange, and contribution towards scalable manufacturing platforms with associated infrastructure and services. Additionally, we will highlight the support offered by the ecosystems to the startups and scale-ups that are driving innovation in the field of novel applications using photonics and paving the way from technology to application development. We will also evaluate the current state of the PIC industry and its challenges, such as supply chain development, the need for standardized practices and roadmaps, and access to financing both in the early phase as well as in scaling. In conclusion, we will discuss proactive initiatives that address these challenges and pave the way for a brighter future in photonic integration."
