Reducing Network Power Consumption with Dynamic Capacity Allocation

This presentation outlines a vision for how the APN can leverage DSP technologies to enable dynamic capacity allocation to match changing traffic patterns and minimize power consumption and CAPEX investments. A simple model for network power savings from the use of Nyquist digital subcarriers for point-to-point optical transmission is discussed, and recent IOWN Global Forum POCs for applicable point-to-multipoint use cases are reviewed.
